• Caucasian or Asian • Advanced age; Over 40 years old • Female; especially after Menopause • Thin or small body frame • A family history of osteoporosis • Use of certain medications; i.e. corticosteroids, anticonvulsants, and thyroid medication. • Low testosterone levels in men • An inactive lifestyle • Cigarette smoking • Excessive use of alcohol or caffeine • Low bone mass • Diet low in calcium |
